Body Dysmorphic Disorder
What is Body Dysmorphic Disorder?
Body Dysmorphic Disorder is a type of obsessive-compulsive disorder in which a person is overly preoccupied with what are perceived as imperfections in their appearance and spends an hour or more, daily, thinking about the way they look. Realistically, the imperfections are imagined or only slight and barely noticed by others, if at all. An individual with body dysmorphic disorder may be obsessed with specific body parts, her or his weight and/or body shape.
